Reformatics Sharing Georgian Reform Experience with the Government of Djibouti

Founder and Managing Partner of Reformatics, Mr. Nika Gilauri, visited the Republic of Djibouti on December 1-3, 2016 to share the experience of Georgian reforms with the President and Government of the country, and gave a presentation at a governmental workshop chaired by the President. The workshop was organized by The World Bank Group (WBG) and Mr. Gilauri was invited as the main speaker at the event by the WBG Country Director for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti, Mr. Asad Alam.

“As a small country strategically located at the cross-roads and having limited natural resources, Djibouti’s starting position is comparable to that of Georgia more than a decade ago. Therefore, there is a potential for further cooperation and experience sharing between Georgia and Djibouti, with the purpose to turn the country into a regional hub and an attractive destination for doing business and investment,” said Mr. Nika Gilauri.

Taking into account Djibouti’s economic and business environment, growth potential and geographic location, Mr. Gilauri’s presentation concentrated on reform ideas and proposals in the area of investment environment, competitiveness, improvement of government service delivery and economic growth more broadly. As a consequence, the President of Djibouti decided to send a mission of government officials to Georgia to gain a deeper understanding of economic and regulatory reforms implemented since 2004.
